Mahogany Mountain Vineyard and Winery is a small, family-owned and operated winery specializing in limited production of handcrafted premium Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Mourvedre, Syrah and Zinfandel. Our vineyards are located on 43 acres in a picturesque and sunny high valley (1,500 ft. elevation) in Ramona, California surrounded by mountains. Our microclimate is perfect for growing red wine grapes and dry-farming: hot long summer days and cool nights produce beautifully ripe fruits with deep intense flavors.

Our wine-making techniques include hand-picked and organically grown grapes, small bin fermentation, hand punch-down of caps, hand press and aging in small oak barrels.  We take great pride in every aspect of grape-growing and wine-making to ensure the quality of our handcrafted estate wines.

History of Mahogany Mountain Vineyard and Winery:

In 1996, we started making wine on premises using locally grown grapes. 

In 1997, we planted our own vineyards with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Mourvedre and Zinfandel varietals. 

In October 2003, the Cedar Fire ravaged the Ramona Valley area; our vineyards sustained minor damage. In the aftermath of the fire, extensive work was done in improving the vineyards and winery. 

In 2004, we expanded our vineyards to add Syrah to our collection of red wine varietals. 

On January 6, 2006, the Ramona Valley was designated as an American Viticultural Area by the Federal Taxation and Trade Bureau.

Our estate wines have recently won awards from the following Commercial Wine Competitions: 

In 2008

• In March 2008, our estate-bottled Mourvedre wine won Silver Medal at the National Women's Wine Competition held March 16-19, 2008 in Sonoma, California.  1,900 wines from wineries throughout the U.S. and international wine regions were judged by 40 well-known women sommeliers and wine experts. 

• In June 2008, our estate-bottled Merlot wine won a Bronze medal in the 32nd Annual Orange County Fair Commercial Wine Competition that was held on June 7-8, 2008 in Costa Mesa, California.  3,287 wines were judged by 94 professional wine makers and/or winery principals.

In 2009

• In June 2009, our estate-bottle Zinfandel wine won a Silver medal in the 33rd Annual Orange County Fair Commercial Wine Competition held on June 6th and June 7th, 2009 in Costa Mesa, California. 3,089 wines were judged by 92 professional wine makers and/or winery principals.

• In June 2009, our estate-bottle Zinfandel wine won a Silver medal in the Lum Eisenman Wine Competition held in Ramona, California.

• In July 2009, our estate-bottled Zinfandel wine won a Bronze medal in the Southern California Commercial Wine Competition that was held in Temecula, California.
